Amazon updates Kinde e-readers, allows sharing of content
Amazon announced a new software update for its Kindle e-readers on Friday which adds a variety of features, including the ability to share the likes of books, movies as well as music across many different devices.
This means, users who made a purchase of a song via your Amazon account, your significant other will be able to listen to that very song on an Amazon Fire tablet thanks to a linked account. With Family Library being made available to the latest Kindle eReaders, it is now a cinch to share eBooks across a couple of linked Amazon accounts.
The update will be offered free and automatically over-the-air in the coming weeks to the newly announced $79 Kindle and Kindle Voyage, as well as to the most recent version of Kindle Paperwhite, Amazon said.
It can also be downloaded starting today from amazon.com/KindleSoftwareUpdates.
This brings a ton of uplifting updates for children and families, with support for a few new and exciting features that make the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage more engaging than ever before.
The update will soon be conveyed over the air "in the coming weeks" to the new seventh-gen Kindle, second-gen Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage.
"We can't wait to hear what customers think about these new software features," said Peter Larsen, Vice President, Amazon Devices. "Word Wise makes it easier for kids learning to read and readers learning English to understand more challenging books more quickly, with short and simple definitions that automatically appear above difficult words. Additionally, Family Library lets family members share books with a spouse or partner, without sharing an Amazon account."
