Cat on the Loose Near Paris Not a Tiger, Say Experts
The cat on the loose east of Paris is not a tiger, say authorities based on the analysis of its paw print.
Police in the Seine-et-Marne department have cautioned residents to continue to take precautions and not venture out unnecessarily, reports the CNN.
The administration issued a statement Friday: "The presence of an animal of the tiger species has proven to be excluded." The statement was based on analysis of the animal's tracks by government wild animal experts.
A National Board of Wildlife and Hunting official, Eric Hansen, however, said that the cat, is no danger to the people, reports CNN affiliate BFM.
The feline was first spotted Thursday in a car park area not far from the Disneyland Park. Earlier, it was believed that the cat had escaped from a nearby wild park, but officials denied any of their cats were missing
A search party armed with tranquilisers and helped by a helicopter is busy looking for the cat but so far has been unable to spot it.
Schools in the area were closed on Friday. Many residents didn't seem overly worried about the situation.
"I think it's more afraid than dangerous," Caroline Dos Santos said Friday, reports CNN.
"For me, I think it's a joke," Jenny Bel Air said.
Khalil Mabrouk, on the other hand said that he would run away if he saw the trigger in the street. If he could out run it!
