DeAndre Jordan, who turned back on his verbal agreement to sign a contract with the Dallas Mavericks, has broken his silence. On Friday night, Jordan tweeted his apology for not telling the Mavericks that he had changed his mind and would be signing with his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers.

"I want to publicly apologize to one of the best owners in the world @MCuban, the @DallasMavs and their fans," he tweeted.

His follow up tweet read, "I am humbled by @DallasMavs & @MCuban kindness and understanding. I am sorry to have a change of heart."

Jordan reportedly reached out to the Clippers when he started getting cold feet. Members of the Clippers organization, including players Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, all flew in to Houston to stay with Jordan at the time of the signing. Jordan signed a four-year, $87 million contract Wednesday night.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban wrote about the situation on the messaging app, Cyber Dust.

"He knew I was in town," Cuban wrote. "He knew I was close by. I knew something was up. I was getting the same reports that everyone else was. I also knew his agents were coming to town. It made sense that he would talk to them and worst case, even if he was having second thoughts the agent would be able to give me updates. Like any big career move it's natural to have second thoughts. So while I was concerned, I still wasn't worried. So I went to bed."

Jordan, however, reportedly did not take any calls or respond to any text messages sent from Cuban at all.

Jordan's friend, Mavericks Chandler Parsons, also expressed his disappointment and frustration with Jordan's late decision.

He said, "I'm shocked, very disappointed, frustrated, disrespected. This is something that I've never seen in my career, and I know that it doesn't happen very often. When a man gives you his word and an organization his word, especially when that organization put in so much effort and I walked him through this process and was very, very open and willing to work with him, it's just very unethical and disrespectful."

Jordan is now on vacation in the Caribbean.
