Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck Update: ‘Gone Girl’ Director, David Fincher, once said Actor can be ‘Suspicious’
Did Ben Affleck's "Gone Girl" director, David Fincher, predict the actor's divorce?
When working together on the movie, which was released in 2014, Fincher made some very eye-opening comments about Affleck. The comments, even though they were related to Affleck's character in "Gone Girl suggested that Affleck might be very good at being secretive.
"If I was his wife, I think I would be very suspicious, always, of whoever just called because he has a real gift at being able to insinuate a conversation," Fincher said. "This is something that Ben is extraordinarily good at, when he has to cook up a phone conversation, when he has to hear somebody on the other end of the phone...He has to do these things in the foreground where he takes out his phone and looks at it and he puts it away so his sister doesn't see it. There are people who do that and it's too pointed. But Ben is very, very subtle and there's a kind of indirectness to the way he can do those things. Probably because he's so duplicitous."'
In the movie, Affleck plays a husband who is being accused of murdering his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike). In the film, he also cheats on Amy with Andie (Emily Ratjkowski).
Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced that they were divorcing after nearly 10 years of marriage. They are reportedly divorcing due to lifestyle differences but rumors claimed that Affleck admitted to cheating on Garner. Other rumors stated that Affleck's gambling problems became too much.
They released a joint statement that read, "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
The couple has three children together, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
