Kelly Cried For His Father 31 Times Before Cops Beat Him To Death Four Years Ago
Four years ago this week on July 5 in Fullerton, California, the police beat up Kelly Thomas, a homeless man, till he died. Before he dropped into a coma, he cried out for his father 31 times, yelled "help me" 26 times and "I'm sorry" 15 times, according to countercurrentnews.
He kept telling the police "OK" a full 29 times, using words like "Sir" and "Please" when he addressed the police officers. But though the beating was videotaped, the two former Fullerton California police officers just walked away, not suffering the effects of the disclosure.
It was last year that the prosecution stopped their case against the officers with the final words of the 37-year-old Kelly Thomas before he lost consciousness:
"Dad help me. God help me. Help me. Help me. Help me."
The Orange County District Attorney, Tony Rackauckas, addressed jurors: "I don't know about you,", "but I can't recall ever hearing such pleas. Such crying. Such begging for his life. Ever."
Yet, the jurors did not convict any of the officers who wore the shiny uniforms of the law.
But defense attoney Barnett had told the court, "This case is not about a homeless, helpless, harmless mentally ill guy, this case is about a man who made choices in his life, bad choices that led to his tragic death."
He described Ramos as a "good cop, a patient cop," and told the jury that rather than using excessive force the night Thomas was beaten, they "weren't using enough force," according to dailymail.
Kelly's father, Ron Thomas, has declared that the defense "lied ... continuously" about the character of his son, Kelly.
"It's carte blanche for police officers everywhere to beat us, kill us." The evidence shows that "they'll get away with it" no matter whether it is caught on video or not, Ron Thomas said.
