NBA Free Agency: Reggie Jackson set to Ink Largest Deal in Pistons’ History

Restricted free agent Reggie Jackson is set to resign with the Detroit Pistons, league sources stated. The five-year, $80 million contract, which does not include a team or player option, is going to be the largest one in the Pistons' franchise history. His deal is one of the more lucrative ones out of the group of young point-guards throughout the league.

Jackson, 25, confirmed the news by tweeting his thanks to the Pistons organization.

With the Pistons this year, Jackson averaged 17.6 points, 9.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 27 games. He started off the year with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who traded him in a three-team deal midway through the season. The Thunder reportedly offered him a four-year, $48 million-plus extension deal in October, which he turned down. With the Thunder, Jackson, who wanted to be a starter, played behind All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook.

The Pistons are looking to build their team around Jackson and Andre Drummond. They landed Ersan Ilyasova from the Milwaukee Bucks in June and Marcus Morris from the Phoenix Suns.

The Pistons also signed free-agent center Aron Baynes but lost Greg Monroe in free agency last week. Monroe announced that he would be signing a three-year maximum deal worth about $50 million with the Bucks.
