Alexandra Reeve Givens, the daughter of late actor Christopher Reeve welcomed their first child last month.
Alexandra and her husband Garren Givens have decided to honor the late Superman actor by naming their baby boy after him.
"Alexandra Reeve Givens and Garren Givens welcomed their first child Christopher Russel Reeve Givens on June 13 in Washington DC," a representative said.
"He was named after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra. The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home," said a family spokesperson.
Garren, 33, and Alexandra first met during their studies at Yale and married in 2008. Alexandra serves as Senior Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee in the US Senate and also teaches at the Columbia Law School.
Garren works for the Obama Administration and is the Director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program.
Her father Christopher Reeves played the lead in four Superman movies. He was later paralyzed during an equestrian tournament in 1995.
Together with his wife Dana, they launched the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation which was set up to find cures for spinal cord related injuries.
Reeves died of cardiac arrest at the age of 52 in 2004 when he was directing the animated film 'Everyone's Hero."
