‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Cast Update: NeNe Leakes Quits Reality TV Show
NeNe Leakes has decided to cut some drama out of her life.
Leakes, 48, announced Tuesday that she will be leaving Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta."
The original cast member of the reality TV series wrote on Instagram, "This is so hard for me to type! I cry as I do so! I am so Grateful for all the love and laughs! Thank you so much to everyone that has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform! With lots of thoughts and prayer I've decided to step out on faith and not fear. #nomoRHOA4me."

Leakes also told PEOPLE, "This was definitely a hard decision for me. Me and my husband [Gregg Leakes] have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things."
Andy Cohen, an executive producer of the show, tweeted in response to the news, "We love @NeNeLeakes & she is always welcome back to the house she helped build! She's a Real Housewife forever!!"
Bravo released a statement to E! News that read, "We wish NeNe well after seven memorable seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. We will miss her bloop bloop's and her great one liners. We look forward to the eighth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in the fall."
In this past season, fans watched Leakes get very emotional when Dr. Jeff Gardare tried to get her to talk about her issues with abandonment. The topic, however, was too hard for Leakes, who left the session early and in tears after revealing that her mother left her and her brother at their aunt's home.
"I just think maybe I have been misunderstood somewhere along the line," Leakes revealed. "I just think that sometimes people think that I haven't been through anything in my life and I don't talk about some of the things I've been through in my life. It's just really hard to talk about my mom."
Over seven seasons, Leakes has also had several up and down moments filled with drama. Although she is no longer contracted to be one the show, Leakes hinted that she would not be opposed to guest starring.
"I'm not saying I'm gone forever. I'll probably pop up and play with those girls every now and then," she warned.
Leakes will reportedly be working on "a new primetime television show."
