Google is working on a project to help diabetics to avoid getting pricks to measure their blood glucose levels.

Google's smart contact lens will help diabetics measure their blood glucose levels by just wearing them onto their eyes. The smart contact lens shall make use of the tears in the eyes and based on that measure the glucose level of the person wearing it.

In a recent patent application, Google showed off potential designs for how the smart contact lens could be packed. However, nothing is revealed about the specifications of the smart lens.

Some reports suggest that the Google's smart contact lens shall be out in the market by 2019.

A representative of Google said that product release cannot be inferred from patent applications.
