Production of 'Big Bang Theory' to Restart Next Week
The eighth season of Big Bang Theory production faced some contract disputes and hence, got delayed by a week.
The delay was announced by Warner Bros TV on July 30, as some of the stars for the serial were yet to negotiate a new contract . The reading for the seasons, scheduled for July 31, had to be moved.
"Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on 'The Big Bang Theory' - which was originally scheduled to begin today - has been postponed," the studio said in a statement reports aceshowbiz.com.
The postponed table read will depend on the five original casts; Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, Helberg and Kunal Nayyar being able to get new deals, their contracts expired at the end of last season. Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik are the only stars who renegotiated their contracts at the end of the season and are available to start the work immediately, reports Deadline.
The actors are negotiating their salary. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco are trying for a pay of $1 million per episode. In season 7, each of them received $350,000 per 22 minutes of televisual viewing.
Entertainment attorney Julian Chan said, "Since the actors are negotiating together, I expect them to have fairly similar deals."
A latest update by Deadline news says that the table read will happen most probably on August 6.
The delay in the start might lead to a minimal order reduction from 24 to 23 episodes but the production house will try to balance it with reduced breaks or extending production in the spring, reports Deadline.
