iPhone 6s Release Date and Rumors Update: Upcoming iPhones With Force Touch Already in Production
Upcoming iPhones, rumored to be called iPhone 6s (& iPhone 7), with force touch screen are already in production, according to Bloomberg.
The report, citing "people with knowledge of the matter" said Apple suppliers have already started making iPhones with Force Touch.
Force Touch is a pressure-sensing technology that reacts to the lightness (or otherwise) of a touch on a display. The tech, first seen on Apple Watch, has already made its presence on trackpads of latest generation MacBooks.
Bloomberg's sources say the new pair of phones are going to keep last year's designs as well as the 4.7- and 5.5-inch sizes. It further adds that phones might get a little bit thicker but that's about it as far as looks go.
The Cupertino-based tech giant usually announces new iPhones in September and we're expecting the same this year.
The Bloomberg report noted that the handset availability will depend on how quickly Apple can churn out the new Force Touch screens.
Its newest iPhones, in the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions as the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices, will have a similar exterior design, the report notes.
In the March quarter, the iPhone unit sales climbed 40 percent, to 61.2 million. iPhone also helped Apple end Samsung's three-year reign at the top of the global smartphone market.
