A reality competition show based from the popular action-romance movie, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," is reportedly in the works.

According to The Variety, 3 Ball Entertainment and New Regency will team up to create this new show. The details for the project have not been revealed. However, producers stated married couples would be invited to participate in the "high-octane, high-stakes game that offers a twist on the TV competition format."

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a married couple who finds out that they were hired as assassins by competing agencies to kill each other. The 2005 movie brought in nearly $500 million in the box office worldwide.

Although the blockbuster was a huge hit domestically and overseas, the movie is known for allegedly sparking the romance between Pitt and Jolie. During production, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. After the movie, however, Pitt and Aniston divorced and Pitt started dating Jolie.

Despite the divorce and timing of his relationship with Jolie, Pitt claimed that he never cheated on Aniston. Pitt and Jolie are now married and have six children together.

Rumors of a sequel to the movie were circulating for a while. However, it seems like a "Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2" is not in the works.

Todd A. Nelson and Brant Pinvidic will be the executive producers for 3 Ball Entertainment.
