‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Release Date, Plot, & Cast Update: Will Jamie Dornan go Full Frontal?
Although the production for the sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey" has not started, one particular rumor about lead actor Jamie Dornan continues to circulate over these past weeks. According to these rumors, fans of the erotic, BDSM romance might get a special view of Dornan, who plays billionaire businessman and sexual dominant, Christian Grey.
Dornan was reportedly offered a bonus worth more than $1 million if he agreed to go full frontal and apparently the Irish stud is not opposed to making the movie racier. The rumors added that if Dornan does bare all, the scene might not be shown in theaters. Instead, it could be added as a cut scene in the DVD.
Fans of the first movie, adapted from E.L. James' book series, were left wanting more from their favorite couple, Grey and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). Bare exposure for both actors, but more so for Grey, was limited. With a new director and new contracts for both actors, fans might finally get what they want.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" had a huge box office opening. Since it was released on Valentine's Day earlier this year, it has grossed more than $560 million worldwide.
DVD sales were impressive as well. In just three days after it was released, 379,000 copies were sold.
In other Grey news, James released the fourth book of the series titled "Grey" on June 18th. This book is based from the original plot but written from Grey's point of view. Despite very mixed reviews, the book has sold more than one million copies (trade, paperback, eBook and audio) in just four days. There is currently no word on whether or not "Grey" would be adapted onto the big screen.
"This is an astonishing number of books to sell over a weekend and speaks to the engagement and passion readers have for the Fifty Shades books," said publisher Anne Messitte, of the imprint of Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. "Christian's side of the story is proving to be irresistible."
"Fifty Shades Darker" comes out on Valentine's Day in 2017.
