Amy Poehler, Seth Myers Reunite on 'Really!?!?' to Stand Up for Women’s Sports [WATCH]
Amy Poehler and Seth Myers reunited to stand up for women's sports.
Myers recreated the popular segment from Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live titled "Really!?!? With Seth and Amy" on his "Late Night" show this Wednesday with guest and former SNL co-star, Poehler. Together, they slammed Sports Illustrated contributor, Andy Benoit, who sparked controversy when he tweeted a sexist statement in regards to the women's world cup and women's sports.
Benoit tweeted, "Not women's soccer...women's sports in general not worth watching" in response to Mark Mravic, who called him out for not liking women's soccer.
In response to these remarks, Poehler said at one point, "I guess I'm not surprise that you work for Sports Illustrated. You guys put out a swimsuit issue every year dedicated entirely to women who aren't in sports - unless you think it's a sport to cover both boobs with one arm."
When defending women's sports, the duo argued how boring certain male sports and topics can be. For example, Myers noted that Benoit seems like the "guy who sits inside on a nice day and watches the NFL draft...to find out if your favorite college player is going to go mansion shopping in Jacksonville or Tampa Bay."
Poehler also pointed out how unfair it is that the women's world cup can only be watched on secondary channels, like FOX Sports 1. They ended the segment endorsing the USA vs. China match, which takes place on Friday, and advised Benoit to avoid tweeting from now on.

Benoit has since apologized for his statement, which he has deleted. His apology read, "My sincere apologies for last night's senseless tweets. I got carried away responding to playful ribbing...and, in my stupidity, overcompensated by saying something ignorant and extreme. 100% mistake on my part, for which I'm deeply sorry."
