Golden State Warriors David Lee Treats Entire Team to Las Vegas Party
The Golden State Warriors had a huge celebration in Las Vegas all thanks to veteran David Lee.
"I thought it was great that the team went to Vegas together," head coach Steve Kerr revealed on The Lowe Post podcast Tuesday. "David Lee treated the whole team, by the way. He flew them out there. He put them up in hotels. It was an incredibly generous gesture by David."
The Warriors reportedly had a great time in Sin City. The NBA Finals MVP, Andre Iguodala revealed that although he "was more the chaperone" on the trip, the guys "enjoyed themselves."
"The team, we had a ranking, once it was all done," Iguodala explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "We had turn up rankings. Bronze medal went to Marreese Speights. Klay [Thompson] came in a close second but Draymond [Green] took the gold medal."
Iguodala was another veteran, like Lee, who saw his role diminish during the regular season. However, midway through the finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kerr made the bold move to put the experienced player in the starting lineup, which paid off.
Lee, however, did not play as much throughout the playoffs. During the postseason, he sat out eight games and averaged less than 10 minutes in the four games that he played in. Despite being benched throughout the season, Lee stated that as frustrating as it was in the beginning, he understood the end goal.
"That was sort of what David and I talked about throughout the season, when things were not going well," Kerr said. "And he kept telling me, 'I just want to win a championship. I've never done that. I want to win. This is frustrating but I want to be a part of it. And I thought he handled himself really well."
The Warriors are reportedly working on a trade for Lee.
