Courtney Love was allegedly attacked in her car by anti-Uber demonstrators in France.

Taxi drivers have been picketing Uber, the American international car service company that allows users to request a car via an app. Uber's popularity, which has grown tremendously, is reportedly hurting France's taxi industry.

"Many taxis drivers are infuriated," Abdelkader Morghad, a representative of the FTI taxi union, said reported by BBC News (via Bloomberg). "We're demanding that the Thevenoud law, which clearly forbids unlicensed drivers, be implemented. There's a lack of political will to do it."

Morghad stated that over the past two years, licensed drivers have lost about 30 to 40 percent of their income due to Uber.

ABC Australia is reporting that the tax drivers are particularly upset over UberPOP, a new Uber service that connects customers to private drivers at prices that are much lower than the taxis. Even though UberPOP has been banned in France since the beginning of the year, cabbies argue that the law has not been enforced effectively.

"UberPOP is illegal. It's the law and it must be respected. We get the feeling the government is letting this happen," said Rene Pierre-Jean, a member of the General Confederation of Labor.

Many protestors have set up blockades around Paris, Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence. In some locations, protesters have been burning tires and overturning cars, prompting the police to use tear gas. On Thursday, June 25, the riots took an even more violent turn and Love was stuck in it

The 50-year-old musician detailed the attack via Twitter.

Love continued to express her outrage over these dangerous riots on her Instagram account where she posted a short video clip. In the clip it looks like three men are surrounding her taxi and attempting to get in.

Love captioned it, "how on earth are these people allowed to do this? the first car was destroyed, all tires slashed and beat with bats, these guys trying to open the doors and the cops are doing nothing?? French Taliban? civil reform needed in France?? I want to go home."

Love then posted a picture of herself with two men, who allegedly saved her after she was held hostage for an hour. She wrote, "we got out after being held hostage for an hour thanks to these two guys. I'm scared out of my wits. Mr. François Hollande president or libertine? I can't believe this really just happened. love French people but your government blows #happytobealive #parisuberstrike wtf??"

It is unclear whether or not Love was in an Uber.
