Deflategate Scandal Latest Update: Tom Brady Arrives in NY for Appeal Hearing

New England Patriots Tom Brady has arrived in New York for the hearing of his appeal, which will be held at the NFL headquarters.

The quarterback is appealing a four-game suspension without pay that he received for his involvement with the Deflategate scandal. Attorney Jeffrey Kessler will argue in his defense.

According to the independent report, prepared by attorney Ted Wells, the investigation concluded that it was "more probable than not" that Brady had knowledge of the two employees' plans to tamper with the footballs in the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

During that game, several of the balls that the Patriots used were deflated, which could have made passing and catching easier for the Patriots offense.

Brady's hearing will address the veracity of Wells' report. The NFL Players Association, several news reports and Brady's agent, Don Yee, have all criticized the report, stating that it is flawed because it was based on circumstantial evidence as opposed to definitive proof.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be presiding over the hearing despite the NFLPA's request that he recuse himself. The NFLPA argued that Goodell cannot remain impartial and might even be called as a witness. Goodell, however, stated that it is his responsibility as the commissioner to oversee the case.

Wells will also be at the hearing.

If the report's findings are upheld, Brady will not play in the first four games of the 2015 season. Fans, who greeted Brady, want his suspension overturned.

Here are some of the fans' reactions:

For the Patriots' involvement with the scandal, they were fined $1 million and docked two future draft picks. Owner Robert Kraft stated previously that he would not be appealing these penalties. Goodell has stated that the team's acceptance of the penalties will not affect the outcome of Brady's hearing.
