NBC's Hannibal Cancelled After 3 Seasons
The current third season of NBC's 'Hannibal' will be its last.
The Bryan Fuller drama which is a prequel series to the hit film 'Silence of the Lambs' will conclude on August 27 later this year.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the decision to end the series might have come developed over a rights issue. Series creator Bryan Fuller had earlier wanted to cast Clarice Starling for the fourth season but the rights to the character played by Jodie Foster in the film were said to be unavailable.
The producers of the show Gaumont TV are currently exploring the possibility of getting other networks to take up the series.
"NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancelation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers," Fuller said in a statement.
"[NBC Entertainment exec] Jen Salke and her team have been fantastic partners and creatively supportive beyond measure. Hannibal is finishing his last course at NBC's table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC."
