Marvel wants the last "Thor" movie in the trilogy to be very similar to the first one.

Rumors are circulating that Kenneth Branagh, who directed the 2011 superhero movie about the god of thunder, is being eyed for the third film in the franchise, "Thor: Ragnarok."

"I was hearing that Marvel wanted Kenneth Branagh back for Thor 3," Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzalex said on Popcorn Talk. "But, he just got an offer to direct Murder on the Orient Express at Fox. So, I don't know if it is going to happen or not. They're thinking about bringing him back into the fold."

"Murder on the Orient Express" is based on Agatha Christie's novel, which goes by the same title. It follows Belgian detective Hercule Poirot's investigation into the murder of an American business tycoon while he is on a train.

Branagh most recently directed the live-action "Cinderella" movie that featured Cate Blanchett, Lily James, Richard Madden and Helena Bonham Carter. Since he has not been officially attached to "Murder on the Oreint Express," Branagh could be returning to the superhero franchise.

The "Thor" trilogy is centered on the son of Odin, who is played by Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth has reprised the role of Thor in other superhero movies, including "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Thor: Ragnarok" was announced last year. The movie's projected released date was pushed back from July 2017 to Nov. 3, 2017.
