Amazon has reportedly beefed up its product reviews systems for customers in the U.S. to mute fake ratings on the site.

The e-commerce giant has integrated machine learning to, first, present users with the newest and freshest feedback but also, secondly, to learn which of these reviews are actually the most helpful to users who are shopping.

According to reports, the changes went into effect last week on the Amazon US site. The improvement will certainly be helpful for users and will change the way how products are rated and presented to users.

"The enhanced system will use a machine-learned model to give more weight to newer, more helpful reviews from Amazon customers," explained an Amazon spokesperson, recently. "The system will continue to learn which reviews are most helpful to customers and improve the experience over time."

The adjustments in the algorithm will rank most recent reviews first. It will also prefer reviews that have been rated by users.

"It's just meant to make things that much more useful so people see things and know it reflects the current product experience," the spokesperson added.

The enhancement in the algorithm is expected to improve the user experience with more concise and relevant reviews on products.
