Woman Tried to Smuggle Cocaine in Her Breast Implants
Colombian authorities said that they arrested a woman at Bogota airport, trying to smuggle 3.3lb of cocaine hidden in her breast implants, The Guardian reported.
The woman was from Honduras, the authorities said, and she had injected more than 3 pounds of liquid cocaine into her breast implants hoping she would pass customs with her "trick."
Colonel Diego Rosero from the airport police unit told journalists that the 22-year-old suspect Paola Deyanira Sabillon had caught their attention because of her nervous behaviour before her departure for Spain.
The police arrested Sabillon and got X-ray images of her body, which revealed that the suspect recently had undergone an operation on her breasts. After some interrogation, she admitted that she had implants on her breasts, which contained an unknown liquid substance. She told the police that she was expected to take the "implants" to Barcelona.
The guardian told that police also were able to trace back where Sabillon underwent an operation. It was an underground clinic in the west of the country.
Sabillion, after her arrest, was taken to a hospital in the nation's capital, Bogota, where doctors removed her implants. It is also reported that she was receiving treatment for an infection, suspected to be caused by non-sterile environment of the underground clinic, where she had liquid cocaine-filled implants put in.
Colombia is a hot spot in the drug world; in both means of production and trafficking.
