U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a passenger from smuggling in more than two pounds of cocaine at Miami International Airport. The authorities reported that the 38-year-old culprit, who was traveling from Jamaica, was carrying fried fish stuffed with cocaine inside of a luggage bag.

The cocaine was discovered during the X-ray examination when the officers noticed something strange inside the cooked fish. The officers saw that some of the fish's bellies were sewn together while some of the other fish appeared to be much thicker.

"CBP officers are an instrumental part of the detailed inspection process designed to detect illegal narcotics entering the United States," said Miami International Airport Port Director Christopher Maston in a statement. "Drug smugglers are using increasingly innovative methods and this interception is an excellent example of how our highly trained officers continue to use their experience and knowledge to detect and interdict the flow of illegal narcotics."

After further examination, the officers found 2.3 pounds of cocaine, which were all seized. The passenger, whose name has not been released, has been arrested.

Within the fiscal year of 2014, CBP officers and agents have confiscated more than 3.8 million pound of narcotics across the nation.
