Amazon's New Screen, Old Price: Revamped Kindle Paperwhite Selling at $119

Providing greater value for money to its Kindle readers, Amazon introduced a revamped Paperwhite at the existing price of $ 119.

According to PC Magazine, the new Paperwhite boasts a 300-ppi screen and the new Bookerly font that Amazon custom-made. Previous Paperwhites had a modest resolution of 212 ppi. These two improvements combined with auto-hyphenation make text easier to read while reducing eye-strain. With the new improvements, the Paperwhite has a screen that is comparable to more expensive Voyage that sells at $ 199.

Claiming improved readability, The Verge reports that the new Kindle seems to work faster than older generation and the screen is brighter with improved contrast levels.

It further reported that though the new Paperwhite's screen is a big improvement over previous versions, it does not have an ambient light sensor like Voyage to automatically adjust screen brightness.

Other improvements that Amazon claims include no glare in sunlight, light weight and adjustable screen light. The Paperwhite will begin shipping June 30 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
