NBA Rumors: NY Knicks might consider Trading Down
The New York Knicks have the number four pick for this year's upcoming draft, but might consider trading down if Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor and D'Angelo Russell are all picked beforehand.
The latest mock drafts and the rumors have Towns getting drafted first by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to select Okafor second leaving the Philadelphia 76ers with Russell.
Since the Knicks are reportedly not sold on Emmanuel Mudiay or Kristaps Porzingins, they might consider trading down for other prospects, such as Frank Kaminsky.
Chad Ford with ESPN.com wrote:
"Sources say the Knicks are entertaining trading down in the draft if Towns, Okafor and Russell are all taken in the top three picks. It sounds as if they remain on the fence about both Emmanuel Mudiay and Porzingis. That's why they've been looking at players such as Cameron Payne and Frank Kaminsky in recent workouts. If the Knicks can get a valuable veteran and still land somewhere in the back end of the lottery, it might make more sense for them than taking a player they aren't sold on at No. 4. We know several teams, including the Nuggets and Pacers, are trying to move up in the draft."
The Knicks, however, might be in like. Other rumors are claiming that the 76ers and general manager Sam Hinkie might be interested in Porzingis, which would leave Russell up for grabs.
The 2015 NBA drafts will start on June 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. It will be live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
