NBA Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings Interested in Ty Lawson

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly interested in acquiring Denver Nuggets Ty Lawson. According to Gery Woelfel with the Racine Journal Times, Kings head coach George Karl is still eyeing the 27-year-old point guard.

Woelfel wrote, "Rumors persist Sacramento coach George Karl will make a play for Ty Lawson, who played for Karl in Denver."

The Kings' biggest competition is rumored to be the Dallas Mavericks. Some reports are claiming that the Mavericks and Lawson share a mutual interest. The Mavericks could add some depth to their point guard position especially since Rajon Rondo is most likely going to sign elsewhere in free agency.

ESPN Insider Chad Ford, however, reported that no one is really interested in Lawson. Ford wrote:

"The Nuggets continue to aggressively pursue a trade to get another pick in the top 5. They are offering anyone on their roster but haven't had much luck. Ty Lawson seems especially hard for them to get rid of right now. 'He's talented,' a rival GM said, 'but there's a reason the Nuggets are letting him go. I don't think he has the leadership abilities to be an elite point guard in the league.'"

Lawson averaged 15.2 points with a career-high of 9.6 assists per game in the 2014-15 season. Despite his playmaking abilities, Lawson's shooting efficiency and defense were less than stellar.
