‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Movie News Update: Eloise Mumford Talks Director Sam Taylor-Johnson
"Fifty Shades Darker" might not have a new director just yet, but actress Eloise Mumford is excited to work with whomever Universal Studios hires.
Mumford, who plays main character Anastasia Steele's (Dakota Johnson) best friend and roommate, Kate Kavanagh, recently talked about former director, Sam Taylor-Johnson with BANG Showbiz, reported by Female First.
"We didn't even know when we were shooting if we would make the second or third movie. There was always anticipation of it, but it depended on the film coming out and doing incredibly well, which it did. So, while we were filming, we were all just concentrating on making the best movie that we possibly could," Mumford said. "We really succeeded at that, I think, in large part to Sam Taylor-Johnson and what an incredible director she is."
Since the first movie came out, Taylor-Johnson has left the franchise. Rumors claimed that Taylor-Johnson and the author of the series that the movie is based on E.L. James had several creative differences.
Mumford added that she will miss Taylor-Johnson but will embrace her new director.
She said, "I loved working with her so much, I honestly can't say enough things about working with her. It'll be really ... I don't know if sad is the right word, but we will miss her very much on set, because she really formed the film version of this with such grace that I'm very curious to see who the next director is. We will embrace him or her with open arms, but it was a really great experience getting to work with Sam."
"Fifty Shades Darker" is scheduled to hit theaters on Valentine's Day in 2017. Its sequel, "Fifty Shades Freed" will come out on Valentine's Day in 2018.
