Universal's Jurassic World over performed at the box office to make $204 million in North America on its debut and also managed to collect $511.8 million globally.

The film is only second when it comes to the highest domestic opening of all time. Marvel's Avengers managed to generate $207.4 million in 2012. With Monday's collections the third sequel from the Jurassic Park franchise may very well dethrone the Avengers.

"This is absolutely a four-quadrant movie and is working on so many levels. The release date was awesome, and everybody stayed off of our date," said Universal domestic distribution chief Nick Carpou.

When questioned on if there would be a sequel to the fourth instalment, Carpou said, "We're saying if the filmmakers agree, we'd love to have another movie. But right now we are concentrating on this movie."

This is the third blockbuster in a row for the film's lead Chris Pratt who had earlier delivered huge hits with 'The Lego Movie' and 'The Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian while speaking about Pratt, said, "He's like Jimmy Stewart with a leather vest and muscles. He's a great modern-day action hero."
