NBA Rumors: Minnesota Timberwolves will be Drafting Karl Anthony-Towns

The Minnesota Timberwolves have their heart set out on Karl Anthony-Towns.

Mark Heisler from Forbes wrote:

"In the Lakers' dreams, Minnesota, picking No. 1 in the NBA draft, would take Jahlil Okafor, dropping Karl Towns to them at No. 2, which looked like it could happen but does no longer.

Minnesota GM/coach Flip Saunders, who had been leaning toward Okafor, is said to have turned pro-Towns after seeing him last week in Los Angeles.

The splash sent ripples throughout the NBA. Says an insider: 'There's no doubt, the T-Wolves are taking Towns.'"

There were earlier rumors that Duke's Okafor asked the Timberwolves not to draft him. Whether or not these rumors were true, it seems like the Wolves will be picking the Kentucky big man. Several mock drafts also have Towns going first in the upcoming draft.

Now, the Lakers have to decide if they want Okafor or if they want to head into a different direction by drafting Emmanuel Mudiay or D'Angelo Russell.

Chris Mannix with Sports Illustrated believes that the Lakers are set on Okafor.

Mannix wrote:

"The Lakers are going through the motions with other draft prospects-D'Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay have been in for workouts-but multiple league sources say L.A. is locked in on Okafor. Despite being overtaken by Towns, scouts still see Okafor as a franchise center-one with an enormous upside."

Several other mock drafts believe that Okafor will be going to the Lakers.

The 2015 NBA drafts will start on June 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. It will be live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
