NBA Finals: Draymond Green Wants to see more Fight from the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are down 1-2 in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Draymond Green wants his team to start fighting.

"They are playing like a team desperate and needs something," Green said prior to Wednesday's practice. "And we are playing like a team that's not desperate and got something."

The runner-up for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award hinted that the Warriors should be playing more like Cavaliers' backup point guard, Matthew Dellavedova, who has stepped up to the plate since Kyrie Irving got injured.

"Who got the first? 'Delly.' The second? 'Delly,'" Green said about loose ball opportunities. He added, "So those are the things that change. It ain't all double-teaming LeBron and him scoring 40. They still scored 96 points. They haven't scored over 100 this entire series. There isn't much more strategy you can put in. It's the little things. Keeping Tristan Thompson off the offensive boards. I don't even know how many offensive rebounds they had last night [in Game 3]. I would guess 15. Maybe more. Let's suppose instead of 15, they get seven. Those are the little things we need to get cleaned up and all the sudden you're winning ballgames. Not double-teaming LeBron stopping him from getting 40 and they score 96 points."

Green, who is a very vocal player on the court, has been dealing with back spasms. He has been receiving treatment and is expected to play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

In the finals, Green has been shooting just 8 for 30. He has missed seven of his eight 3-point attempts.

Teammate veteran Andre Iguodala did not completely agree with Green's statement.

Iguodala said, "I wouldn't say we're not fighting, but we could fight more. So I can agree and disagree with the statement. We've definitely got to fight a little bit harder, and being down 2-1, you've got to pull some extra stuff up out of you to try to get a win next game."

The Warriors won Game 1 in overtime (108-100) and then lost Game 2 in overtime (95-93). The Cavaliers who are playing with several injured players have been able to stop the Warriors' offense and if the Warriors do not find a new strategy soon and come out with some more fire, they could be headed home.

"This isn't the time to be quiet. Everybody should speak up. You be quiet now, you'll be home in a couple days," Green stressed.

Game 4 of the series is on June 11 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
