Minnesota Twins Torii Hunter lost his cool in Wednesday night's game against the Kansas City Royals after getting ejected for arguing a third strike call.

Immediately after the ejection, the veteran had to be restrained before he threw a massive tantrum. He started to take off his baseball gear, ripping his elbow pad off first. He then took off his shin guard and batting gloves, which he threw toward the batter's box next to plate umpire Mark Ripperger.

Hunter then vigorously took of his jersey and tossed that aside before heading to the dugout.

"I thought it was a ball," Hunter said of the 2-2 pitch in the eighth inning. "The pitch before that, I thought it was a little up. He called it a strike, that's fine. I thought the last pitch he called a strike was revenge because I said something about the pitch before that, because it was definitely a ball."

Hunter added, "We have bad days, all of us, as hitters, pitchers. Even umpires have bad days, and he had one."

Twins Manager Paul Molitor was also ejected, a career first.

"I became a sideshow to the big show, from what I hear," Molitor said. "But those things, they happen in a game. They happen with different umpires, good umpires, and we'll just move on."

Since Hunter came into contact with one of the umpires, he could be facing a suspension.

"That's always a possibility," Molitor said. "I don't want to try and predict or speculate how the league offices are going to respond to his actions. I'm sure it would be reviewed and considered as to whether a suspension is appropriate or not."

Hunter is hitting .268 with eight homeruns and 36 RBIs. He is playing in his 17th major league season.

The Twins lost the game 7-2 and was swept at home for the first time this season. They also lost their division lead over the Royals.
