One of the best point and shoot camera is getting an upgrade - Sony on Wednesday unveiled RX100 IV which sports impressive features and comes at a premium price.
Features
Sony RX100 IV, with 16.8-megapixel sensor, comes with a 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor, the ability to capture video at 960fps and an "ultra-fast Anti-Distortion Shutter, which offers a maximum speed of 1/32000 second.
According to Sony, the RX100 IV utilizes "full pixel readout without pixel binning," which ensures the footage displays minimal moire and jaggies. This means that the camera should be able to produce sharpest video possible.
RX100 IV also supports dual video recording functionality, i.e., you'll be able to shoot images while you're recording 4K video simply by pressing the shutter button.
Among other specs, it includes a ZEISS 24-70mm F1.8-F2.8 lens, XGA OLED Tru-Finder, and advanced autofocus technology that promises to detect a moving subject in as little as 0.09 seconds.
Price
Sony RX100 IV will cost $1,000, kind of costly for a point shoot. Sony RX100 III is selling for about $800.
Preorders for RX100 IV is beginning June 17, and we don't know yet when you'll be able to pick one up in-store.
Sony RX10 II
Sony also introduced RX10 II, featuring exact same specs as Mark IV. However, it sports a 24-200mm F2.8 lens, and will retail for $1,300.
