Physical Pain Is In Sync With Emotional Pain, Study

When you're stressed out, you tend to feel exhausted and worn out, leading to pain all over the body, Dr. Susan Babel, a psychologist who specializes in "trauma-induced depression" wrote in Psychology Today: "Studies have shown that chronic pain might not only be caused by physical injury but also by stress and emotional issues."

Anxiety and stress leads to constricted muscles and nerves, according to spiritscienceandmetaphysics. "More subtly, one might develop psychosomatic symptoms or stress-related symptoms because of unresolved emotional issues," explains Dr Babel. "Often, physical pain functions to warn a person that there is still emotional work to be done, and it can also be a sign of unresolved trauma in the nervous system" she continued.

So what do the body pains indicate?

Pain in your head, such as headaches and migraines indicates stress and tension.

On your neck, pain shows that you are not able to forgive those who you are bothered with. You consciously need to work towards cultivating an attitude of forgiveness.

If your shoulders feel pained, you might be carrying a big emotional burden, so that you are "shouldering a problem." Hence take some proactive problem-solving steps and dish out the burden to other people around you.

In your upper back, pain means that you do not have enough emotional support. Feeling unloved or holding it back indicates that you need to go out for a date.

The lower back ache is a warning signal for money worries. Again, you are lacking in emotional support, and it is time for you to ask for an overdue raise or think about a financial planner that can help you to use your money better. Don't get scared to reach out for help.

Your elbow pain might show that you are resistant to change in life. Shake up the stiff arms, make some compromises and adjustments and go with the flow.

When your hands begin to hurt you, then you need to reach out better, share lunch with a friend and make a connection with someone.

The hips are a delicate area that disclose that you are scared of moving. While sore hips might reveal that you are not willing to change and move, they may also hesitate to take decisions. Big ideas could usher some willingness to draw out a plan.

Do your knees ache? Then they could give a flash of a big ego. So reduce your arrogance, and make yourself humble. Volunteer for service at some place, and be grateful for the privilege of helping others.

If your calves are throbbing, then it's the harbor of emotional tension, jealousy and high stress. Be prepared for some new activity.

The ankles are important to show you that you could use some pleasure in life. Spice up your romantic moments.

The feet cannot bear the extra burden of your depression, apart from your body weight. If you are very negative, then your feet will ache. Search for the little joys of life, for a new pet, and a hobby.

Dr Babel concludes: "Although one might not be aware of the lingering effect of the trauma, or believe that the traumatic event has been put behind them, the body could be clinging to unresolved issues."

Hence, next time you feel the pain in your body, then look inside for more emotional guidance and spiritual solace and comfort.
