Jason Statham Daredevil Reboot? Actor Not Interested In Doing Marvel Movies, Says Stunts "Not Authentic"
Jason Statham has been rumored to have been eyed to play Bullseye on Season 2 of Netflix's Daredevil. However, in a recent interview in promoting his new movie Spy, the British actor said he is not interested in doing any Marvel roles.
"A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a greenscreen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they're relying on stunt doubles, and greenscreen, and $200 million budget, it's all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic," the 47-year old actor said via Cheatsheet.
The actor, who has been famous for doing his most of his stunts without visual effects in earlier movies like Transporter and The Expendables series, said that he has great respect for 'old-fashioned type of films,' Celebitchy reports.
"I'm inspired by the people who could do their own work. Bruce Lee never had stunt doubles and fight doubles, or Jackie Chan or Jet Li. I've been in action movies where there is a face replacement and I'm fighting with a double, and it's embarrassing. But if you really are an aficionado of action movies, you know who's doing what and who ain't. To me it's a little bit sad."
Meanwhile, Statham joked that he is willing to play James Bond role in case Daniel Craig would retire from his role, Digital Spy said.
