Fabric Softeners Are Full Of Chemicals, So Make Organic Ones At Home

You may buy a fabric softener to make your fabrics silky and soft, but did you know that they contain a number of horrible chemicals that need not inhabit our skin, or fume in our homes?

For instance, they would contain a chemical like camphor, which is a "central nervous system stimulant" while chloroform is a "neurotoxic carcinogen". Do you really like having these things around in a family with children?

Such chemicals may spread some cheap lubrication on the textiles, which will make your clothes feel smooth and "resist the buildup of static electricity," according to thankyourbody.

Still, you like your clothes soft, so you think you can go soft on these chemicals. Well, you have another thought coming. You can make your fabric softener at home, and kick out these toxins, according to simpleorganiclife.

Try this one out:

Take four cups of apple cider vinegar

20 drops of essential oil (for scent, completely optional)

1 cup of hot water

3/4 cup of baking soda

This is what you need to do:

Blend the vinegar, baking soda and water in a large vessel. They will begin to bubble, so you need a large container to...just contain the spill.

Once the bubbles subside, you could pour the liquid into a glass jar.

Now add your essential oils if you choose to use them.

From here onwards, you can just shake the container before you use it, and add two tablespoons of the mix for every load of washing.

Try it out and check how soft the fabric gets!
