Robin Williams death ruled a suicide, no alcohol or drugs involved: Report
The surprise death of Robin Williams back on August 11, 2014 left everyone stunned and grieving. Authorities in California confirmed Friday that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of his suicide.
However, Williams was suffering from depression, anxiety, the early stages of Parkinson's Disease and increasing feelings of compulsion and paranoia, the report states.
Williams was found dead in his Tiburon, California, home August 11 from what investigators suspected was a suicide by hanging. He was 63 years old.
According to his death certificate, Robin Williams ashes were scattered off the Pacific Ocean coast one day later.
Williams won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his performance as an avuncular psychologist in Good Will Hunting and earned four Academy Award nominations in a career that straddled film and television. His most recent TV show, The Crazy Ones with Sarah Michelle Gellar, was canceled after one season.
He was taking medication in "therapeutic concentrations" which improved his condition and kept him physically active until his death, the report says.
According to his wife, Williams never spoke of suicidal thoughts. Analysis of his iPhone, iPad and laptop revealed no suicide-related searches on the Internet, the report states.
When his wife awoke on Aug. 11, she presumed Williams was still asleep and she went out to run errands. Williams' assistant found his body a few hours later, after becoming concerned for his well-being and breaking into the bedroom. Williams was fully dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt, the report states.
