NBA Rumors: Where will Free Agent Jeremy Lin Go?
Jeremy Lin's run with the Los Angeles Lakers was far from successful. Now that the Lakers are rebuilding their team, they will most likely not extend a contract to Lin, who becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Lin, who is only 26-years-old, could be expecting a few offers. Here are four potential teams, other than the Lakers that Lin could be headed for.
1. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have been trying to get back to the NBA finals after winning in 2011 and Lin could add some depth to their point guard position with Rajon Rondo most likely leaving the team in free agency. On top of that, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a huge fan of Lin.
2. Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets could be interested in getting the Lin - James Harden combination back. The Rockets almost made it to the NBA finals this year and would need some more depth is they want to contend next year. Although they were plagued by injuries, adding Lin back to the lineup could be useful.
3. Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers, who suffered this season without their star, Paul George, can also be interested in adding a playmaker. Lin, who would not cost much, would also fit in better with the Pacers' defensive squad.
4. Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz already has Trey Burke, who is an average point guard. However, if they want to spark their offense or improve their playmaking abilities, signing Lin could help. The Jazz also is also a great defensive team, so adding Lin, who is not the best defender, would not hurt them too much on that end.
If Lin signs with a different team in the summer, it would be his fifth NBA team since 2011. In the meantime, Lin has reportedly been working with recently retired and future hall of famer, Steve Nash.
