Florida Man Burns Skin By Juicing Lime Under Sun
A Florida man fixing drinks with lime juice over a lazy weekend sustained second-degree burns without touching anything hot.
According to USA Today, Aaron Peers was squeezing lime in his backyard on May 24 to make margaritas under the sun. The next night he noticed his hands were stinging and was rushed to the hospital where he discovered that lime juice had caused burns under the sun. The technical name for his condition, said to be somewhat rare, is phytophotodermatitis. Peers was unaware of his condition.
Two days after getting lime juice on his hands, Peers started developing blisters. Doctors have advised him to stay out of the sun, and avoid using lime juice when outdoors. According to doctors treating Peers, several other people in Florida have the same condition but it is not exactly known what could make it worse.
His unexpected skin condition has upset honeymoon plans that Peers and his fiance have for after their marriage. For now, Peers is hoping the ring he purchased for his wedding fits.
"Tried it on the other day. It barely fit," Peers was quoted saying.
