Apple WWDC 2015: Five Things That You Should Know
Apple's annual developer conference, WWDC 2015 starts on Monday. Here are five things that we think you should know:
Venue
WWDC is kicking off on Monday in San Francisco at 10am Pacific Time, with a keynote that will be streamed live. Interested people can watch it online (https://www.apple.com/live/), through the WWDC app for iPhones and iPads, or through Apple TV, via the Events app.
No Apple TV
New York Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the revamped version of Apple TV is not yet ready to be launched next week. The device has not received an update for more than two years. The revamp was thought to include an improved remote control and a developer toolkit for creating apps for the device.
Watch-only Apps
Developers will be able to create independent Watch only apps. Last month Apple senior vice president of operations Jeff Williams told a conference the company would make it so developers can skip a step and create watch-only apps. Right now, the app on Apple Watch needs to operate via an iPhone app.
Music
Rumors are that Apple is stepping into the world of subscription music streaming. It will charge $10 per month, according to WSJ. The company bought the US-only Beats by Dr Dre streaming service for $US3 billion last year.
iOS 9 and OS X 10.11
Apple will also be launching iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 at the upcoming WWDC that will mainly feature on bringing 'quality' focus, smaller apps, Rootless security, legacy iPhone/iPad support.
