NBA Playoffs: Warriors Klay Thompson passes First Concussion Tests
The Golden State Warriors expect Klay Thompson to be ready for Game 1 of the finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Thompson's agent, BDA Sports' Bill Duffy, stated that one day after the guard dealt with concussive symptoms, Thomspon has passed his first concussion tests.
"My understanding is that it was negative," Duffy said to USA TODAY Sports in regards to the tests. "There were no issues."
When asked if Thompson had a concussion, Duffy replied, "No."
Thompson was accidentally kneed in the head by Houston Rockets' Trevor Ariza in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. He was initially diagnosed with an ear laceration. However, after the game, Thompson stated that he felt dizzy.
"I have absolutely no problems with how this was handled," Duffy said. "I think Klay was communicated with. There was no pressure whatsoever. It's absolute that this was handled the right way, with communication between the team and us, so I see no issue whatsoever, or no need for scrutiny. ... To me, it's a non-issue as to how it was handled.
Thompson was driven home by his father, former NBA player, Mychal Thompson after the Warriors finished celebrating their win.
"He was pretty woozy last night," the elder Thompson revealed on the Mike and Mike show. "He wasn't able to drive himself home so I drove him home. When he got home he threw up a couple times and after he threw up ... he started feeling a lot better."
He added, "After a couple days off he seems to think he'll be fine."
Thompson, who is set to see a neurologist on Friday, has a lot time to rest and recuperate. Game 1 of the NBA Finals starts on Thursday, June 4 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
