Watching 3D Movies Can Boost Your Brain Power, Study

You could watch 3D movies in order to enhance your brain power, new research says, according to theguardian.

British researchers say that just watching films could improve your cognitive abilities. The team led by neuroscientist Patrick Fagan from Goldsmiths University found a 23% increase in cognitive processing ability among participants after watching a 3D movie.

The reaction time of the subjects went up by 11%, a "brain boost" that lasted for 20 minutes after they watched a 3D film.

Watching 3D films could be beneficial, as a study claims that 3D films exercise the brain and improve its short-term functioning, just like brain-training tests, according to dailymail.

Professor Brendan Walker of Thrill Laboratory, which is a London-based company that dedicates itself to the enhancement of "thrilling" experience, the researchers discovered that the reaction time could boost about five times the experience of others who watch the 2D movie.

"Surgeons, boxers and tennis players may benefit from watching films in stereoscope before taking on challenging tasks," the authors noted.

Growing old automatically brings down the cognitive brain function and impairs the future quality of life.

"The initial results indicate that 3D films may potentially play a role in slowing this decline," Fagan said.

Hence, brain tests and headsets were used to study moviegoers at the Vue cinemas in Piccadilly, London. Scientists discovered that the 3D experience offered a better immersion than a 2D for the viewers.
