Whatever, But It's Not Called Android M 'Milkshake'

Android M might be named anything but not Android M 'Milkshake.'

The next version of Android M was showcased at Google I/O 2015 keynote event. However, the company did not mention the full name of the Android OS and kept it as a secret. This led some users to speculate the name based on the watch face of the Huawei Watch sported by David Burke, Vice President of Engineering (Android), who was detailing the new OS on stage.

A user clicked high-resolution images of the Burke's wearable which showed a long glass of milkshake, leading to speculation that the next version of the mobile and tablet operating system will be called Android Milkshake.

Interestingly, Burke replied via his Twitter account, and said: "Rumors of Milkshake are exaggerated. My watch face hack cycles thru' my fav M desserts :)"

Burke went on to post an image along with the post of four watch faces showing four of his favorite "M desserts", which also included a macadamia nut cookie (the internal codename of Android M, like Lemon Meringue Pie for Android L), milk, and single malt whiskey.

We are expecting that like Android Lollipop, the official name of the new OS version will only be revealed at the time of the next Nexus device launch, which could happen by October.

Some notable features of Android M are: granular app permissions, Android Pay, a new RAM manager, USB Type-c Support and native fingerprint support.
