NBA Rumors: DeMarre Carroll Reportedly Interested in the New York Knicks
After an impressive season with the Atlanta Hawks, DeMarre Carroll should expect multiple offers once he becomes a free agent in July.
The latest rumors are claiming that Carroll is very interested in joining the New York Knicks because of head coach Derek Fisher, who Carroll used to work out with in Southern California. According to the New York Post, Knicks president Phil Jackson is very interested in Carroll as well as his teammate, Paul Millsap.
"I've been getting a million calls and emails. .... This might be the biggest contract of my life," said Carroll. "But at the end of the day, this game isn't promised to you. So whenever you've got an opportunity to play basketball, a lot of people say it's bigger than money and it feels like that to me."
Millsap said, "I think looking at different options, looking at this team, looking at what we've built thus far, in weighing my options I can't make a decision right now. It's been a long series, a long year, for me and the team. Let things die down, cool off, relax and think about it a little bit. We are a family. This team is close. It will play a lot into the decision."
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons are also reportedly very interested in signing Carroll.
Carroll found his offense with the Hawks after an unimpressive start to the league. With the Hawks this season, he averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He has also earned the reputation of being a strong defender. During the postseason, Carroll averaged 14.6 points with 6.1 rebounds.
Prior to arriving in Atlanta, Carroll played for four different teams and never averaged more than 6.0 points per game.
Carroll is dealing knee and turf toe injuries this offseason.
