With 14 FIFA executives being charged with money laundering and racketeering charges by US authorities, there have been calls from various quarters demanding Sepp Blatter's resignation.

The FIFA President was asked to quit by head of UEFA Michael Platini during the crisis talks recently held in Zurich.

However Blatter has refused to resign and hopes to secure a fifth term in the upcoming vote for the next FIFA President scheduled to be held on Friday. Blatter is also under pressure to postpone the day of the vote.

It remains to be seen if the European football body UEFA will boycott the vote this week.

Former Prime Minister of England, David Cameron has also backed calls demanding the resignation of Blatter.

The FIFA President has however found support from Russian President Vladimir Putin who supports his bid for a fifth term.

He has also said that allegations were merely an effort by the US to stop Blatter from seeking a fifth term.

Many sponsors of the game have expressed concerns over the corruption enquiry now that both the US and Swiss authorities are looking into the issue.

Swiss authorities are currently carrying out a separate investigation over the committee member's bidding process through which Russia and Qatar won the rights to host the world cup for 2018 and 2022 respectively.
