Children cannot travel without Parent or Guardian in Nepal
The recent earthquake disaster in Nepal has taken away approximately 8,673 people between 2th April 2015 and 12th May 2015.
As a result a large number of people have ended up in streets. This has paved way for the trafficking of young people who have lost their families, homes in the country's powerful earthquake.
To prevent illegal activities of trafficking, the Nepal Government has announced that all children travelling in Nepal will have to be accompanying by their parents or by their legal guardians. The government has put a ban on children travelling alone or with anonymous persons.
The ban has been enforced after police stopped two groups who were being taken by unrelated adults by bus in different districts. The children are being held in government shelters and police are still investigating the cases.
International adoptions have also been suspended.
The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare said that the ban is aimed in protecting the innocent, homeless victims of the earthquake disaster.
