Lee's Sandwiches Recalls 213K Pounds of Meat Sold Without Inspection

The Untied States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the recall on its website stating that chicken, beef and pork were produced without inspection and sent to restaurants in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas.
"The problem was discovered by USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) personnel during a surveillance review. During this review, FSIS personnel observed and detained non-federally inspected products which were produced at the warehouse distributorship and had applied USDA marks of inspection without authorization," the agency said in a news release adding that it did not received complaints of adverse reactions from consumers.
The recall also included Fruit Beef Jerky, B.B.Q Beef Jerky and Curry Beef Jerky.
The agency said the producer was processing products without passing inspection.
"Lee's Sandwiches, has been processing products from federally-inspected establishments and re-packaging them without the benefit of inspection. Products produced without inspection present potential of increased human health risk."
