Google Launches New Translate Extension For Chrome Browser
Google is bringing the convenience of reading content in almost any language with the all new Google Translate Chrome extension.
Google, the renowned internet search company, is bringing the worlds of different languages together. It is not quite often that you land on a foreign language webpage but Google wants you to be prepared for every scenario. In an official Chrome Blog on Wednesday, Google said the new Translate Chrome extension can help users translate a particular sentence or phrase without altering the rest of the page.
In order to translate a particular text on a webpage, users can simply highlight the content and click on the Translate icon or simply right click on the selected text and choose "Google Translate" for a quick translation. Selective translation of the content is the new addition to the Google Translate in Chrome.
Users can still translate the entire webpage by clicking on the translate button located in the upper right hand corner of the Chrome browser.
"The Translate team is working hard to connect people by breaking language barriers across computers, mobile devices and Internet browsers," Google software engineer Chao Tian wrote in the company's official blog. Our users make more than 1 billion translations a day, and we hope that our recent update will make their translation tasks a little easier!"
Chrome automatically detects a foreign language and shows translated text on the webpage. The improvement to the feature is welcome as the extension can help translate in case the browser fails to detect a foreign language.
Google Translate is a small but an integral part of Chrome. According to Venture Beat, more than 1 billion translations are carried out by Chrome using the feature and it is essential Google keeps improving on such important features.
To download the Google Translate extension for Chrome, head over to the Chrome Web Store. If the extension is already installed, the browser will detect the update and make the change.
