Apple Unveils New 15-inch MacBook Pro With Force Touch, And a New 27-inch Retina iMac
Apple has unveiled a new 15-inch MacBook Pro, updated with new specs that include Intel Core processors and Force Touch trackpads. It also unveiled a new 27-inch iMac with Retina Display that starts at $1,999.
Newly unveiled 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro now has a PCIe-based flash storage that provides up to 2.5 times the performance of its predecessor, and the battery contained within lasts an extra hour of usage - 9 hours of web browsing or 9 hours of local iTunes movie playback.
Apple is also offering a $2,499 model of 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina with 2.5GHz quad-core Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, that comes with a AMD Radeon discrete graphics card.
The new iMac sports the same 5120×2880 5K Retina display that Apple debuted last year but is now powered by a 3.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor coupled with AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics card. The base model has a 8GB of RAM and 1TB of standard HDD storage.
13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display was updated with improved processors and Force Touch trackpad back in March.
Force touch provides opportunities for unique input via a secondary, deeper click. The technology also equips Apple's trademark "taptic" feedback, which makes it feel like the trackpad is physically clicking even though it is not.
