Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell says Marijuana is "not important" to him
Star Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell tried to assuage any concerns he could become the next Ricky Williams by saying that marijuana was "not important," to him.
Bell made the remarks in an interview with ESPN in reference to his upcoming three game suspension that was handed down as a punishment for a DUI he received in 2014. Bell was pulled over as he drove a car with then teammate and now New England Patriot LeGarrette Blount. Both players were found to be under the influence of marijuana.
In the interview, Bell said he was ok with the length of his suspension and would also accept any other sanctions handed down by the league or Steelers organization. He also said he hoped that the work he has put in to satisfy the legal system could result in his suspension being reduced.
As part of Bell's legal punishment for the DUI, he has been on 15-month probation that began in February. He is not allowed to drink or consume any type of drugs, and had to pay $100 fee in addition to court costs. He also had to take a safe driving class. He has also done many hours of community service.
Upon the completion of all these requirements and his probation, Bell's legal record will most likely be expunged.
In addition to saying marijuana was unimportant to him, Bell described the whole ordeal as an "embarrassment," and something he has learned from.
As a rusher with the second most yards in the league last year, Bell was an integral part of the Steelers' offensive attack. He was also critical to the passing game as the team's second leading receiver.
Bell ended the season with 1,361 rushing yards and 8 rushing touch downs. He also made 83 catches for 854 yards.
