NY Giants Rumors: Will Injured Receiver Victor Cruz be replaced by future Draft Pick?
Victor Cruz is reportedly getting closer to being 100 percent healthy and ready for the upcoming 2015 season. The New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese stated that Cruz is about 85 to 90 percent healthy.
"We think Victor is going to come back at 100 percent. He's doing really great," Reese said. "We feel really good about Victor, he's working hard every day. I was down there watching him work out a couple of days before the draft. He's excited, he's jumping up on boxes as tall as he is, almost, so he must be doing pretty good for me. We think he's probably 85, close to 90 percent right now, but they're taking him at a snail's pace just so he won't have any setbacks."
The Giants wide receiver was more realistic about his recovery progress, stating that he is only around 75 to 80 percent there.
"We got [to cutting]," Cruz said Tuesday night. "We started running some intermediate routes on air and stuff like that. It's feeling good. It's feeling good so far. I think I'm 75-80 percent right now. It's just a matter of building it."
However, after Cruz posted a video of his workout on Instagram, many are starting to think that Cruz is downplaying his recovery cause he looks like he is in tip-top shape.
Whoever said hard work pays off was right. We're getting closer ladies and gentlemen. #TheReturn

"We expect him to walk out in Dallas (on opening day) and play for us," Reese added.
Although Cruz is recovering well from a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, rumors are already surfacing that this upcoming season could be his last one in New York if he is no longer the same player that he was before the injury.
WalterFootball.com is projecting the Giants' pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Even though it is way too early to assume where these prospects are headed, the mock draft believes that the Giants will be interested receiver Tyler Boyd from Pittsburgh.
The website wrote, "The Giants were going to consider one of the top receivers if either fell to them at No. 9 in the past draft. Both Amari Cooper and Kevin White were off the board, however, so New York could look at the position next spring. The team needs a second wideout because Victor Cruz's career could effectively be over."
All of these predictions could change, of course, if Cruz comes back as strong as before or even stronger.
He is expected to sit out in the Giant's minicamp and OTAs to avoid any mishaps in his recovery process.
