Microsoft's Hyperlapse Arrives For PCs and Phones: Is It Too Late?
Months after Instagram debuted its app Hyperlapse, Microsoft has released a similar app that would help up record and produce super-stabilized videos on Android, Windows and Windows Phone.
Like Hyperlapse from Instagram, the app would whittle down the shaky footage into high-speed, smooth clips that would look amazing on any screen.
The desktop version of the software uses 3D modeling to steady the footage from GoPros and other action cameras.
The apps for Android, Windows OS and Windows Phone are available today. Notably, the Android app only supports specific Android phones at this moment. Currently this app works on the following devices, running Android 4.4 or later:
- Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, S6 Edge,
- Note 4
- Google Nexus 5 & 6, Nexus 9 tablet
- HTC One M8 and M9
- Sony Xperia Z3
Also, Windows Phone 8.0 or lower are not supported and you need to have Windows Phone 8.1.
iOS version, according to Microsoft, is not going to arrive anytime soon as there's already a worthy competitor (Hyperlapse). Reportedly the company is "evaluating" an iOS release in the future.
